2012 was an amazing year in style! The hair world went crazy as fashion went up a notch, it was oozing with creativity and I predict a lot of these trends will make it into 2013 and stick around for a while.
I’m gonna go straight into the styles that made an impact for me.
Ombre
For women with dark hair who want a change, or for those of you who like to experiment with color, this was a fun option. The ombre weaves went right off the shelves and stars like nicki minaj made it fun to ombre with many different colors
Heavy Bangs, a Smooth Ponytail & Dip-Dye Color
This was another way to have fun with your hair color this year. Many opted for this less permanent route and the dye works on almost all hair color and textures, except super dark hair. The heavy bangs on this hairstyle is still a popular trend and the key to a great blunt bang is to keep the sides just a tad bit longer than the center as Beyonce did.
Pixie shorts cuts
From Emma Watson to Rihanna, the pixie became a sexy, mature and sultry look this year. Short hair makes those striking features stand out.
Super long hair with barrel curls
Thanks to the Kardashians, deep parts with large bouncy voluminous curls were all the rage
Fishtail braid
A bunch of fishtail braids on the red carpet in late 2011 continued into 2012, and by the looks of things its gonna step into 2013, vintage is back in a big way!
Updos and Buns
Piling hair, beehives and buns on top of the head is trendy going out into the new year
Blonde, Platinum Blonde
They say blondes have more fun, that was the case this year!
Side ponytails
This hair-do became a very formal look this year, with or without bangs, messy or sleek it was quite sophisticated on the red carpet
Edgy shorts cuts, shaved head
Miley Cyrus, Pink, Rihanna, Cassie, I called it punk rock chic.
Textured, Natural Hair
Believe it or not, lots of women parted ways with the relaxer this year!
Bob
RIP to Vidal Sassoon. 😥 His bob lives on and, will continue to live on until the end of time! That is what you call a timeless classic in my world!
